Description

An ancient Chinese legend; inspired by the violin concerto and the story as my mother told it... Where their ill-fated love led them to be reborn again as butterflies...
"The Butterfly Lover's" is part of a larger collection of stories, where the two lovers are reborn and meet only every 1000 years, only to die in tragedy. However, it is this constant renewal which while short, gives them precious moments together...

Done for the epilogue "Renewal" Contest. My only gripe is that I wish I had a little more time to work on the picture... I'll upload some more detail shots later

It's a really nice idea, I like the clouds and butterflies, but the couple seem not to belong together. Like they were taking from different pictures.

Is it because he's invisible-ish? or becuase shes too saturated?... Hmmm.... perhaps I should clarify further: her physical self is swallowed into his grave (he is already dead) and basically, she is with him, but he exists only in spirit, thus she gives up her life (I depicted this by having her begin to fade) so that she can be reunited with him (in spirit ) This leads to a renewal of their lives together as the form of butterflies...

Hopefully that makes some sense!

Love the butterflies and clouds, though the lighting of her face isn't consistent with the rest. Another crit is you should have saved it with a better quality! JPEG artifacts aren't pretty at all!

and yes that final bit of description really helps explain the piece a lot.. i'd missed her fading out before that (thought it was just a shadowing technique).

Very, very pretty. There is a strange line or two on the dress, but I am loving the feel of this picture.
